NetSmartz

The NetSmartz Workshop is an internet safety program that helps keep kids safer whenever they are on the internet. The Kansas Alliance of Boys & Girls Clubs has partnered with the Kansas Attorney General's Office to bring the NetSmartz Workshop to Kansas kids, parents, and the community. NetSmartz trainers provide internet safety presentations to kids and teens grades K-12, at no cost to the public. Presentations for parents, teachers and the community are also available.

NetSmartz is an online, interactive, educational resource that uses age-appropriate 3-D activities to teach children how to be safer on the internet. For elementary school kids NetSmartz offers 2 separate presentations. Both presentations are fun, educational, and engaging for the younger kids. The NetSmartz presenter interacts with the audience and the NetSmartz characters on the screen. Kids love these presentations, meanwhile they are learning about internet safety. For tweens and teens, NetSmartz covers topics in online predators, social networking sites, cell phones, instant message and email, online gaming, cyberbullying, blogging, online image and real-life consequences. These presentations are more in depth and NetSmartz covers all forms of technology that youth are using today and educates them on how to use it responsibly and safely. There are video clips in the middle and high school presentations which are real-life stories about other youth who have been victims of cyberbullying and online predators.

NetSmartz offers additional online activities for kids and teens of all ages. Parents and teachers can use these activities in the classroom or at home to further educate kids about internet safety. The goal of NetSmartz is to extend the safety awareness of children to prevent victimization and increase their self-confidence whenever they go online. NetSmartz aims to educate, engage, and empower kids and teens to make safer online choices.
